Thank you so much! It's being an *interesting* transition.

Close the jobs with the negative WIP.

Run the Inventory WIP Reconciliation report and filter on Specific
Transaction Type - MFG-VAR.

When closing the job, the system should bring the job to Zero.

Not sure what happened or why the jobs are negative but, accounting
might
have to Reclass the MFG-VAR cost for these jobs.

The MFG-VAR transaction should to the Manufacturing Variance account and
in
the end - it all goes to the Cost of Operations.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the help, Cathy!

Now for the big question.... How can we clean up a negative WIP on a
job? Is running the Inventory WIP Reconcilation report the best way to
go?

do we see what parameter settings for this process? If I go to MRP screen, I

Run the System Agent from the System Management/Utilities Menu. Drill
down in the tree and select the Task that was submitted. Select "View
Task Parameters" from the Actions menu. This does not work in every
case but it does work for MRP.

This is the way to do it. Go to system monitor and open it up

Go to the scheduled task tab

In the left of the grid, double click on the row that is for the
scheduled task

It will then pull up your original scheduled task settings

Since it is a recurring task (or a task within a larger process set), have the admin provide you with the setting being used and simply print hard copy for the handful of users that actually would need (or understand) the info.

A nice low tech thumbtack can hold it on a wall.

Run the System Agent from the System Management/Utilitie s Menu. Drill
down in the tree and select the Task that was submitted. Select "View
Task Parameters" from the Actions menu. This does not work in every
case but it does work for MRP.

We have an existing MRP process scheduled to run everyday, question is:
How
do we see what parameter settings for this process? If I go to MRP
screen, I
get the default values, not the ones that process is configured.

Thanks.

Dear all,

I hope that someone is able to help. We have been experiencing issues with the run time for our MRP system. We are on vantage version 8.03.408B running on a progress database.

I wanted to ask other users in the group how often they run a full MRP and what horizon they use? I know that different companies will require different settings but our planning department are determined to run a full MRP regenerative every night with no cut off date.

We also use the following settings:

Ignore constrained materials
Allow historical dates
Run the multi level pegging process.

The issue that we are having is the length of time it takes to delete the unfirm jobs in the system and we have been now experiencing MRP taking an extremely long time to complete.
For example we have tried to cut the horizon down to the 31/10/2013 and have started this process off at 20:00 at night and on several occasions this has taken until lunchtime the next day to complete?

I have logged this with Epicor and they have asked us to run the following conversion routines:
5640
5100
6430

We also done a dump and load last year? Any ideas would be appreciated.

Regards,

Ross

Ross,
Why would you not want a cutoff date? Are you within a horizon that determines that for you? Allowing Historical Dates is a monster in its own! If it's late, it's late!
We run regenerative every week and I can help you out with some of this. I am a Master Scheduler and know the ins and outs of MRP in 803.
Send me an email to mbrown@... and I will shed some light for you.
Thanks
Mike

If you are moving things to inventory that are more than the actual cost on the job, it will drive your WIP negative.

Good Day:

In your version, can you run it without "Multi-level
pegging". That doubles the time and I never did get an answer to if it
is needed.

Run Regen every night at 10: PM -- in 8 hours ( 4 if no
pegging) - run 6 processors and 6 Schedulers -

Sun is on E9 Verion: 9.05.700C - SQL- Unidata - Enterprise-since
4/15/2012

Went live on 9.05.600B on 11/22/2010

Previously used M2K ( Manage 2000, ver 7.0 SP5) from 7/4/2001

Previously used INMASS
