we used a dry erase board for scheduling and material status worked great.
put all of the problems there and managed the board

Hello everyone,
I have a work in process question for you.
We do NOT have the AMM module.
We have our welding area of the shop that the AMM module would really
help us, but, it's hard to justify the cost for that one area.
When the welding area is working on a job, say that operation 10 is a
subcontract operation. The parts come back from the subcontract
operation and brought over to the welding area. The welding area isn't
ready to work on operation 20, so they put these (WIP) parts on a shelf.
There is no location for these parts in the system, and so maybe a week
later, when they need to work on the parts, people do not know where to
find them. Then there is wasted time looking for the parts, etc.
Does anyone else have a similar situation? Did you find a good solution
to help people know where these WIP parts are since there is nothing in
Vantage? The shelves are now labeled, and we were thinking about a
clipboard or a computer with a spreadsheet over by those racks so that
people note what parts they have and what location they are putting the
parts into.
Does anyone have a better suggestion?
