Wrong job materials

Are you only concerned with getting the costs transferred, and not
tracking the actual parts? If so, you could do a job adjust, and lower
the cost of the first job, and increase the cost of the job the parts
really should have gone to. This is on 6.1 anyway, I'm not sure if
that function is still there for 8.x

Rob (and others), thanks for your suggestion.

Unfortunately most of the materials we have ordered are NOT
inventory items as we have been constructing an R&D facility. We've
found about 494 wrongly issued materials - and that's just in one of
our projects and there may be more that we haven't found.

I suppose the long way round would be to create each of these as
inventory parts, do the Return Material method you suggest, re-issue
them to the correct Job and then mark the parts as invalid.

Is there a shorter way?

Thanks again in advance.

[Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
Hi all,

We have recently installed Vantage 8.03.405 and during our early days
have created Jobs and Projects to reflect what we are doing. However,
we have now realised that some Jobs have had incorrect materials
allocated to them (ie should have been allocated to a different Job),
and some of these materials have been purchased already (ie material
transactions exist)

Is there a way to reallocate materials to a different Job?

Thanks in advance,

Russell Harris.
Russell,

You should be able to go into Inventory Management and use Return
Material, which will take the material from the job and put it back
into inventory. Then, you would need to reissue the materials to the
correct jobs.

Return the issued material from the job WIP back to stock and then edit the job details to call for the correct part. Issue the correct part.

Just because a part is marked non-stock, doesn't mean in can't have normal inventory transactions performed against it.

The only possible fly in the appointment is for materials 'purchased' direct'... Not our 'thing' so I don't know if a job material return would force an attempted return to the originating PO.

Try one. (What have you got to lose?)
