Are you only concerned with getting the costs transferred, and not
tracking the actual parts? If so, you could do a job adjust, and lower
the cost of the first job, and increase the cost of the job the parts
really should have gone to. This is on 6.1 anyway, I'm not sure if
that function is still there for 8.x

Rob (and others), thanks for your suggestion.
Unfortunately most of the materials we have ordered are NOT
inventory items as we have been constructing an R&D facility. We've
found about 494 wrongly issued materials - and that's just in one of
our projects and there may be more that we haven't found.
I suppose the long way round would be to create each of these as
inventory parts, do the Return Material method you suggest, re-issue
them to the correct Job and then mark the parts as invalid.
Is there a shorter way?
Thanks again in advance.
