32 or 64 bit - which do I ask for?

32 vs 64 matters slightly because of how the fix program would be compiled, and based on the first post, he would be 32-bit, not 64-bit.

From that email:

Open Edge 10.2a - 32 bit
Epicor on server and clients - 32 bit

I’m thinking it would be easiest in your situation to make sure you specify both.  I’m not certain that the 32bit vs 64bit DB really matters just Unicode non-unicode.

I’ve pretty sure they only care which version of the Epicor server is installed.  They need to know that for fixes so they compile against the correct architecture.

I agree, you are almost certainly going to say "64-bit" because that is the version of SQL Server you have installed. You also need to know "Unicode" or "Non-Unicode"

I used to know this, but have forgotten. My environment is:
Windows Server 2008 - 64 bit
SQL Server 2008 - 64 bit
Open Edge 10.2a - 32 bit
Epicor on server and clients - 32 bit

When Epicor tech support asks me my environment for a one-off fix program, do I answer "9.05.607B SQL 32 bit" or "9.05.607B SQL 64 bit"?

Thanks,

I’m just going to jump in here one more time and say I’m very sure they don’t care what architecture your SQL install is only that it is Uni-Code but they do care which version of your application install on the server is. You would call in with

9.05.607B SQL (Unicode/non-unicode you didn’t specify in your original post) 32 bit [progress and E9 install]

Actually thinking about this more.. To make it really easy send them a copy of your mfgsys.ver file found in the root install folder of your Epicor instance (the Epicor905 share). That file will have everything they need to know about your install to give you one off fixes.

That’s a great idea! – no chance of typo or remembering wrong. Just be sure not to grab it off that test upgrade server… :)
