4.0 Global Alerts

The contact person in the ship to address must have a valid e-mail address
listed, and that contact name must be in the ship to address you've chosen
on the order.

If the contact person is not selected in the ship to address on the sales
order, it won't send the alert. If a contact person is selected from the
ship to addresses but it doesn't have a valid e-mail address, the alert
won't be sent.

Sincerely,
Judy H. : )

I believe you can turn off the alert (in 3.0 at least) to send the Salesman.
That way it only goes to the person specified. I've never tried it with a
contact person, however.

Terry,

I don't know about v4.0 alerts, but v3 alerts for Order has Shipped also
tries to send the alert to all the salespersons entered for the order.
Perhaps there is mismatch between the salesman's name in Vantage and their
e-mail name in your mail client's address book or because the shipping
person doesn't have internet e-mail there was, in fact, no transport
provider available to deliver the alert to the salesman.

Here's what's happening. I have "order has been shipped" turned on in
global alerts with "send alert" checked. The only recipient I selected
and
that I see in the "to" box is from my inhouse postoffice address list in
Outlook. According to the help screen the person(s) shown in the "to"
box
will get the email.

I have an order that has "alert upon shipment" checked in the header.
The
contact for the order also has his xxxx@... email address populated
in
customer maintenance. When I create a shipment record for the order,
the
inhouse recipient gets his alert ok. However, Vantage is also trying to
send an alert to the xxxx@... address. A couple of problems I see
is:

1. I may not want an email to go to xxxx@...
2. The computer that is used to create shipment has no outside email
access.
It gets an "undeliverable" message that "no transport provider was
available
. . .". DUH, there's not supposed to be!

Am I interpreting the problem correctly or is the by "design"? The only
workaround I can think of is to not populate the email address of the
contact. What if I want it populated?

Any suggestions?

TIA
