5.2 quote glitch

We had a glitch that sounds very similar when our Windows 98SE users opened
both Engineering Workbench and Job Entry at the same time, the screen would
flicker quickly and eventually the Vantage session would crash out. NT4,
Windows 2000 and XP users were unaffected.

This issue seems to have been resolved in the latest patch though (5.2.313)
and we aren't seeing the problem with Quote Entry.

Hi everyone!

I just upgraded us to 5.2.313. When one of our users tries to browse to open up a quote or tries to update a quote the quote screen starts to flicker very quickly and she gets disconnected from Vantage while its flickering. This is a Win 98SE machine. This particular computer hardly ever has any problems, muchless Vantage problems, so this is an unusual occurance.

Has anyone had this problem?......

Way back when we started with Vantage I recall something similar (in 4.0). When browsing for jobs it would do the same thign and I believe it had something to do with inadvertantly doing a wild card lookup. It would sit there and flicker and "bounce" for a long time before finally stopping (and returning control). I vaguely recall it having something to do with a period in the search string. I belive Progress (I know RB does) treats "." as a wild card character similar to "*". Perhaps someone else recalls the exact details. Do you use periods in your quote numbers?
