New situation for us....customer usually orders a certain part for their
production line - now wants to order exact same part under a different part
number for sale by them as a replacement or repair part. All our jobs are
for the production part number so even if we make a new part number for the
replacement version we can't link orders to the production part jobs.
Is there a way to make production parts to "stock" and then either link
order for the replacement part to them or some how move parts from one part
number in stock to the other? We can't use the "customer part" field on the
production part for the replacement part number because then both show up on
paperwork. Short of creating a fake job to "convert" material (production
part) to the replacement part is there any easier way to sell the same
physical part under two part numbers and link sales orders to either job or
stock?
