We’re running low on disk space on our app server, so looking around to see if there is any low hanging fruit to free up disk space. I found a 77Gb file named testfile.dat and hasn’t been modified since 2020 which intuitively sounds like it might not be needed, but don’t plan to delete it unless I know what it is for sure which I don’t. Anyone know how I could figure out what this file is / if it’s needed(I’m not familiar with VirtualStore files) vs it’s left over from a test and not needed…?
It’s very unlikely you need that file. If you are worried, copy it over somewhere else and save it.
Very unlikely it’s Epicor related. Virtual Store is around from when Microsoft added UAC. Programs could store data there that couldn’t access Program Files. Legacy programs used it. Not used these days.
Came around in Server 2008 too when UAC was added to server. If your server is an upgraded older 2008 server that could be left around. Or if you moved/copied a user profile.
It hasn’t been touched since 2020… I’d blow it away.
