Accessing Costs

Thanks Butch! Cost Set Entry was the missing piece of our puzzle.

Here is how we set the values:

1) Enter standard material cost for purchased parts
2) Build a BOM in the Engineering Workbench
3) Add material, operations and/or subcontract work
4) Use the Cost Set Entry form to roll up the BOM costs (Labor and O/H
will get calculated based on values in your operations and work centers.

These values are stored in the Part table and used when creating jobs.
If you do not have these costs in your Part table and are seeing Labor
and Overhead on your WIP report, then it is coming from Labor Entry
only.

Dear Oh Knowledgeable Ones:

We feel like we're missing the obvious. We are on 6.1, Standard costing
method. We are new on Vantage, so this is our first year end. We want
to review our standard costs for accuracy and have discovered that the
Labor, Burden, and Sub-Contracting fields are blank. When we called
Epicor (3 times now), the first one said that we have to fill in the
costs with our own standards, and then it would auto populate from jobs
when Capture COS/WIP activity is run. The second one said, "Only
material and subcontract will auto populate in Last and Average costs,
but not Standard. You will have to manually enter Labor and Burden; and
to get the initial information, you can pull the information from the
Parttran table". (We did, it's over 46000 records). The third one
said, "I don't know. Let me research and get back to you." Huh? Isn't
this one of the basics of an MRP program?

We see costing information on Job Tracker/Revision/BOM/Costs. Where
does this information come from?

What are the rest of you doing? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
