Accessing Crystal via the Internet

First thing is probably making sure your NT web server is accessible from
the outside the firewall (static IP, etc...), but that's not my area of
expertise.

Looks like you just might be the first VantageGrouper to embark on this
adventure...

Lemme know how it goes!

We have one California sales rep. who needs to get to our Open Orders
report, so licensing isn't a big issue for us. Plus, I'd just like to know
how to do it.

Troy,

I haven't set it up yet (will be once I get my knew laptop), but I believe
whether your using the web component server to distribute accross an
intranet, or opening up the server to access from the internet, you still
have to have a simultaneus access license for every concurrent user. They
say one CAL per 10 database users is fine, but the more user interaction
there is to your report, that ratio might become less friendly. licenses
are over 2 grand a pop.

The web component server looks like a great means of distributing reports
in-house, but because of licensing costs it may not be the best option for
handling internet volume.

I asked this question awhile back...

Is anyone using Crystal's Web Component Server or Crystal Enterprise to
give
customers (or employees) access to Vantage via the internet? If so, what
is
required from a web hosting perspective?

I'd like to be able to do this but I don't know where to start.
