Anyone use a product called Double Take

You can also check out "SurviveIT" from CA.

I've looked at both and my preliminary gut instinct is that Double-Take is
the better of the two products. It does cost more then CA's solution but
I've come to believe that CA products, in general, only "Sort of" work.
That's not good enough in my book for server replication.

Note that both of these products can suck up a significant amount of network
bandwidth and you will need an extra set of "licenses" for the second server
in some cases. ( Read: Any MS product - ie if you are replicating an
Exchange server you will need a second copy of Exchange since it is
"Installed" on both servers - even though only one is active at any given
moment. ) I'm not sure about Progress/Vantage ???

Also, you cannot replicate a PDC or BDC. If you have Vantage, Exchange, etc
installed on stand alone servers that are NOT domain controllers then you
can replicate them.

Subject: [Vantage] Anyone use a product called Double Take

I am looking at ways to provide disaster recovery in the event our
server is taken out
Aka Manufacturing firm and the IT Room is unlocked - Go Figure
Anyway I am looking at putting in a second server for redundency and
found this software called Double Take by Sunbelt Software
Here is the info and the URL

Double-Take provides real-time (and open file) data protection,
reducing downtime for Windows NT and 2000 networks. It is an industry
leading "two-in-one" type of product as it provides both High
Availability and Disaster Recovery.

Anybody have any experience using this?
