Anyone using VMware for their Server Environment?

FYI - I got this working very well now.
In ESXi there is a manual override option for Memory allocation that can/should be set to [x] unlimited.
This was set to a manual memory value that was much less than the memory I had allocated to it.
This is not obvious when looking at Task Manager because the memory you allocated shows as available for use, but anything the system uses above the manual override value is SENT TO THE SWAP FILE.
Ouch ! This is a major performance hit !
If you are using ESX and have odd memory usage and poor performance, double check these advanced settings, they are a bit tricky.

I setup our Vantage App Server and SQL 2005 Server in an ESX3i environment with a Fibre Channel SAN.

I have 2 hosts (dual Quad Core - 32GB RAM), one is hosting Exchange 2007, File Server and some other Misc. Servers, the other host has Vantage and SQL only.

All the other Servers work GREAT but I am having performance problems with my Vantage App Server that I can't understand.

There must be others out there who have Virtualized their environment, but Epicor is not much help.

Any info or help would be greatly appreciated.

We are looking at going to a VMware environment soon. I would be interested in what kind of issues your running into. What type of array are you running? How many users? How large is your DB?

Thanks

We are on A VMWare Server for vantage.

I dedicated two Raid Arrays to the ERP server one a raid 1 for OS and App
and the other raid 10 for DB

We have about 20 vantage users and about 15 MES

Our DB is about 1.6Gig.

Our users complain of slowness some but I have a feeling it isn't the server
it's the client.

Our server never really get above 50% load.

Setup: Vantage 8.03.406a / SQL Server

I am needing to get a hook into the AR Invoice Entry Screen. I am
wanting to do some BPM work after each time the user creates a new
invoice header from a shipping record (Actions/Get/Shipments on the
menu). I cannot seem to get ANYTHING to fire after the adding of a new
row. I have looked at InvcDtl, InvcHead, etc. No luck.

Any thoughts, comments, suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

One thought. Are you using custom code for your Actions? The reason I ask is that I think there is a glitch in BPM. If all you use are the built in Actions, then having no conditions will always fire the actions. If you use custom source code in you actions, then having no conditions will cause your BPM to never fire. At least this has been my experience. If I have custom code that I always want to fire, then I add a condition like:
the TableName.RowMod of the changed row is not equal to the ? value.Â
