Application Studio - New App Training?

I’ve been digging though training for Application Studio through this site and the ELC, but it seems like anything instructional is focused on adding new layers to existing apps or dashboards, but not so much on creating a new application. I get the gist that I need a UBAQ to start with, but past that I get lost pretty consistently on what exactly I’m doing.

Just trying to create a form for maintaining CMR records with a UD table, any pointers in the right direction would help so I don’t flail around as much.

Thanks!

I can’t remember exactly (because I also have to fumble through and remember each time)… I think you can go to Dashboard Maintenance and create a new dashboard.

I think it just needs a name & description to be able to save.

Once you have it saved… you should then be able to create a menu to get to the new dashboard.

Program Type: Kinetic App
The Program would be: Ice.UIDbd.WhateverYouCalledIt

Once you have a menu for it… you can navigate to it and then open Application Studio and start designing.

Again… I THINK this method works? Its been a minute since I’ve done this.

I am guessing this has changed as you cannot use Menu Maintenance in Web Version and Client will no longer work after July 2026???

Indeed. Now you open Application Studio and you can create a new app/dashboard there.

But Menu Maintenance does exist in the browser. I’m assuming you meant Dashboard Maint.

Yes sorry I did mean Dashboard Maint, I am just looking at Epicor Application Studio training now and to be honest its pretty poor
one question at end of each section to answer and I am guessing your an expert at the end, but its like walking in quick sand

Dashboard Maint. is simple lets make it much harder and provide poor training

I do often find information here that is true, however I have very little knowledge of Application Studio and I will need it to create dashboards for any up and coming BAQ reports I might be asked to write.
Very frustrating when I know how easy it is with Dashboard Maintenance

I have just stared Working with “Dashboards’ in Application Studio - Hands-On” Epicor Learning Center. and first steps are using Smart Client foe DASHBOARD and MENU Maintenance

How is that going to help in the future

Well, BAQ reports a slightly different work flow. Those are done in a combination of BAQ Report Designer and App Studio.

If you open BAQ Report Designer and then look at the application help, there is a decent article in there to hopefully walk you through it.

In general, I’ve found the help articles tend to be more up-to-date than the Learning Center. But, I’ll admit, I haven’t been in the Learning Center for many moons, so I may not be the best judge on that.

If you open App Studio and look at the help articles, they’re relatively easy reads, though don’t cover every control/event/permutation you may come across.

Thanks for this, I will play around in Test Company using your information and see how I get on.

Hi @dcamlin I decided to just try a work my way through creating a new Dashboard with Application Studio and after many painful moments I managed to do a simple Dashboard and even got Colour Conditioning to work on several layers. felt like a win today happy with myself.
Thanks for the information much appreciated

Yeah, its a whole new toolset to learn vs Classic customizations. Give yourself a little grace and enjoy the small victories!

Even those of us that look like we know what we are doing struggle everyday, and celebrate the wins when we get them.
