Applying 9.1D Service Pack

I just went from 91D Sp5 to SP 9 with the 920 hot patch last
weekend. Yes, Todd is correct you do set the services to manual, reboot
then apply both the Sp9 and hotpatch and the reset you service to auto
and reboot again. My 6.0 database didn't blink -- just started up. The
instructions are very explicit

I don't believe I have ever seen a Progress service pack that was not fully cumulative (rather than incremental). It should install all the programs and .DLLs over the current ones. As long as the Vantage version is not changing (which sometimes requires database and schema changes so those can be incremental) it should be pretty transparent. I think there are some services to be sure are stopped but that should be spelled out in the install document. I have a vague recollection about stopping the services, setting them to manual start (not auto) and then rebooting to flush from memory. Then after the install setting them back to auto-start after future reboots.
