APR? - Power Tools

Does anyone know if APR is fixed yet?

It’s frustrating enough that we must run the client to trigger auto-updater nearly everytime we go into DMT but with Power Tools not auto-updating, sysconfig issues, overwriting versions (don’t forget to put pilot in a different dir than live) it’s so much worse.
Do we really need a full client update every minor version? Can we do better version mismatch tracking now that the intent is to release every month?

How is anyone supposed to setup DMT to run scripts reliably unattended for more than a week or so? How are even power users expected to manage all this?

I understand PowerTools is supposed to have an auto-update feature in 2026.1.
Are we really waiting for the local client to get dropped before this thing works?

I guess so? :man_shrugging:

Sorry, I don’t have answers to your questions here. I tried power tools in 25.1 but been holding on tight to Classic for as long as possible. Hopefully the Power Tools in 26.1 will be solid.

I forget, is there a client for 26.1? Would be nice if there’s a 6mo overlap at least.

There is no smart client provided for 2026.0 CR… wheee!

Classic UI is not included in 26.1 so I’m going to say no.

The issue with APR can be easily resolved.

Go to menu maintenance and change the report style menu form to use to classic. Not user choice or kinetic.

The issue stems from this being set to kinetic or user choice and therefore it attempting to launch the kinetic version of report style in the power tools client which doesn’t have the required files.

Changing it to classic still allows you to open it in kinetic in the browser but also allows power tools to continue to work in 25.2.

Zero APR sessions at Insights either. Just EE19 which looks like BPM-based report routing.
Wish I knew why we’re paying for this feature.

Thanks Ben for the info. I gathered it was fixable and you’ve provided more detail, thanks.
Just having a Monday.

Wait, we can do Report Style Maintenance in classic in the Power Tools? Big if true.

Kinetic Report Style Maintenance is terrible with the new zip file approach.

Yes you can. It is there because APR is not in the kinetic UI report style yet.

You must not know what it does lol.

The APR designer/editor looks like the Classic BPM but it’s a little different.

I know what it does but months after PT release it doesn’t work. Further, it’s not likely to have a future yet there’s no known future direction on email reports workflows.

It works fine, just launch classic report style from your regular menu. No need to go through power tools when they haven’t taken the client away yet. Yes it is likely to have a future, Epicor has not made any indication its going away and there is no comparable functionality in any other partner product.

I understand thanks. We don’t use client don’t want client. Referring to email flows post SSRS. Just spouting. Do you mind?

I understand your frustration.

This is a day job for a developer, or less.

It should just work.

Looks like this week is going out as shitty as it came in.

‘Just launch classic’, ‘it should just work’ they say.

Client update borked both my workstations. App cannot event handle it’s own exceptions. sysconfrigged, edge agent a mess.

Every single time. So frustrating.

Delete Classic cannot come soon enough.
