We have a job that that has several subassemblies. One of our subassemblies keeps auto receiving itself after the final operation even though the completed quantity has not exceeded the run quantity. The final operation is set for auto receipt but since it is a subassembly, shouldn't that only automatically happen when it exceeds it run quantity.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Jasper

Do you enter labor qty's against the final operation as it is being
completed. It will move partials if you do so.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean.

The run quantity was for 600 pieces. To date, only 557 have been completed but all have auto received into inventory.

Were the 557 pieces entered on someones labor entry record from timekeeping?
The parts would be moved to inventory as those values are keyed in. Let's
say the first day of running those parts they completed 100 pcs. When you
enter that in Labor entry for that operaton flagged as the final operation
and checked to auto recieve to inventory those 100 pieces are moved to
inventory. The next day they do 150...and so on..happens wwhen those
entries are made in Labor Entry.

This part is not the top assembly. It is a subassembly. Even though it's set as final operation/auto receive, the only quantities that should go into inventory are the quantities that exceed the run quantity. The rest just stays with the job and goes to the top assembly.

Any ideas why this is happening?

This part is not the top assembly. It is a subassembly. Even though it's
set as final operation/auto receive, the only quantities that should go into
inventory are the quantities that exceed the run quantity. The rest just
stays with the job and goes to the top assembly.

Any ideas why this is happening?

Were the 557 pieces entered on someones labor entry record from timekeeping?
The parts would be moved to inventory as those values are keyed in. Let's
say the first day of running those parts they completed 100 pcs. When you
enter that in Labor entry for that operaton flagged as the final operation
and checked to auto recieve to inventory those 100 pieces are moved to
inventory. The next day they do 150...and so on..happens wwhen those
entries are made in Labor Entry.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean.

The run quantity was for 600 pieces. To date, only 557 have been completed
but all have auto received into inventory.

Do you enter labor qty's against the final operation as it is being
completed. It will move partials if you do so.

We have a job that that has several subassemblies. One of our
subassemblies keeps auto receiving itself after the final operation even
though the completed quantity has not exceeded the run quantity. The final
operation is set for auto receipt but since it is a subassembly, shouldn't
that only automatically happen when it exceeds it run quantity.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Jasper

Only over quantities of a Subassembly. If it is the top assembly then all parts go into inventory. When a subassembly is produced, it does not come out of WIP. It stays in WIP because it is a material requirement for another assembly. If a job require 10 pieces of a subassembly and you produce 15 then 10 become the material requirement for it's parent assembly and the remaining 5 should go into inventory IF it is set for auto receive.

The problem we have is that ALL pieces of a subassembly are going into inventory and not continuing on to the next stage.

Is it a problem with just this one particular part or is it all of them? If
it is just this one, it almost sounds like something is not triggering
within the BOM.

Only over quantities of a Subassembly. If it is the top assembly then all
parts go into inventory. When a subassembly is produced, it does not come
out of WIP. It stays in WIP because it is a material requirement for
another assembly. If a job require 10 pieces of a subassembly and you
produce 15 then 10 become the material requirement for it's parent assembly
and the remaining 5 should go into inventory IF it is set for auto receive.

The problem we have is that ALL pieces of a subassembly are going into
inventory and not continuing on to the next stage.

We do very little Auto receive at WI but my understanding is that
completed parts go straight to inventory when completed in a "Auto
Receive" operation. I'm not sure where you see that only over
quantity goes to inventory.

True ..BUT it still moves those 15 parts to inventory then out of inventory
when you use the 10 for the top assembly...
