Manufacturing to Inventory

You can do partial/incremental completions (and receipt to inv) for as
many/few parts and instances as you choose.

Pardon me if I am wrong, but with Mfg. Receipts you can receive partials
into stock.

My wife will attest that I hate reading instruction manuals and
similarly I
am suspicious when I'm told something that defies logic!

My gurus tell me that if I want to manufacture say 5 items into stock
and
receipt them into inventory as they are completed I either have to
create 5
jobs and receipt on completion of each job or if on a single job wait
until
all 5 items are completed.
The items would involve multiple work centres and completion times
could be
staggered over days weeks or months.
We are running V5.2
Would appreciate comments

Regards

Dennis O'Hara

Dennis,

We manufacture thousands of different part numbers and many of them
are thousands of piece runs with multiple workcenters and even some with
Subcontract operations. We have completed and received finished goods off
jobs that are still in process with no problems. Some issues are the fact
that you will have WIP at many stages in those jobs and it makes for
difficult cycle counts. But, it is possible to make a job for 10,000 pieces
and receive 100 into finished goods inventory complete before the other 900
are done.
