Hi Blake,
You need to open MS Query.
In Excel 2003, if I remember correctly, you go to the Data menu and
pick Import External Data, New Database Query, then pick your Vantage
ODBC connection. Enter the system password (probably sysprogress.)
In Excel 2007 you go to the Data menu and pick From Other Sources on the
Get External Data section of the ribbon. Pick From Microsoft Query then
pick your Vantage ODBC connection. Enter the system password.
Then you add the tables you need. Excel will do its best to link the
tables, but you will need to check the links. For example Excel can't
seem to figure out the link from CustNum and it links every table to
every other table. To add a link you just click on the field name in
one table and drag over to the other table.
You pick the fields you want by dragging them down to the section below
where the tables are shown. You can add criteria and sort records.
When you are finished, select File, Return Data to Excel.
The only major drawback to MS Query that I've come across is that it
can't handle more than two tables at a time when you use a left outer
join. If I need to use a lot of left outer joins then I create
multiple queries and use VLookup or Index/Match to link them in the
spreadsheet.
If you know SQL then you can create the SQL query manually by pressing
the SQL button on the MS Query menu.
Hth,
Linda

Hello,
Why not use an ODBC connection and create the query that you need right
in Excel?

Hello:
Are you running Progress.
If so, I should be able to help you by writing a Progress program that
would
duplicate your BAQ and output your Excel (delimited?) file to any path
you
want.
We could add an icon to your desktop to run the Progress program to
export
your data. Very easy.
I have worked with Progress for over 20 years and with Vantage customers
since 2006.
Let me know if I can help you. I am located in Michigan.

Hello all,
I have a problem. We are on version 8.03.408a. in our old 6.1 version
our
shipping girl was able to run a BAQ by herself that would import order
data
into an excel file. This excel file woul then be tied to bartender to
print
barcodes. Anyway. in 8.03 it doesn't save the path for the export file
(i.e
BAQ export process). i know its not hard to do but to type in the path
and
the output file type etc evertime she needs it is ridiculous. I know
about
setting a schedule for it. However there are time when she needs it on
the
fly.
if this makes sense to anyone is there a way to do this. Again its the
