Barcode scanners

I believe if you have a scanner that can accept ADF rules, you can program into the scanner to "send next 'x' characters". We have the Symbol LS4278 scanner but it depends on the type of serial code and if all the characters are consistent 'x' characters.

For your example, you would program "skip ahead 'n' characters" to remove the first digit and send all remaining characters.

Yeah, so to answer your original question: No, there is no way to configure
the *hardware* aspect of the scanners to drop "x" amount of leading digits

on the barcode.

Does anyone know if you can modify the output of a scanned barcode data?

We want to scan the serial number on one label to input into the system to then print a different label with the same serial number.

The label shows the proper serial number above the barcode but when scanned it adds 1 additional character before the serial number.

So i would like something that would remove that character before it inputs the data into the system so would not have to go back and delete the single character after every scan.

Thanks for any help,
Chad

Scan into Excel? Put in a formula to take right(X) characters or left(X) characters...Copy/paste new value from Excel or put a new barcode into Excel (I have never done that, but heard it is possible)?

Where do you scan them into? Is it an EPicor screen? If so you could do a
simple customization to remove that cahracter. Is it always the same
character?

Yeah, so to answer your original question: No, there is no way to configure
the *hardware* aspect of the scanners to drop "x" amount of leading digits
