Bom

My company successfully loaded our BOM from another 3rd party ERP software
into Vantage.
We had to purchase the Vantage ABOM utility for $3000 to do the import.
It was a straight forward process.
You take your data and put it into an Excel spreadsheet, mapping it in the
order and field definitions shown in the Vantage Data Dictionary.
Once the file is created, you import it using the ABOM utility.
After the import is run (It took us one hour to import 25,000 parts), the
ABOM utility generates a discrepancy report telling you all duplicated parts
and whatever records did not get imported (due to errors such as - wrong
field size, invalid characters, wrong spacing, etc.)
We ran the utility about 12 times to get all data clean.
After each run, we would delete the bogus databases that were created.

My suggestion is that you do it yourself and not have Epicor do it, as you
will have an expensive price to pay if you let them do it.

Your IS person should be knowledgeable about: file structure, building
database records and data importing and exporting.

The Vantage programmer who assisted us was Paul Boulmier. He was very
knowledgeable.

Has anyone had experience with loading BOMs to Vantage? If yes,
would you
recommend it? What is required? My management wants to head in
this
direction and is looking for some guidance.
Thanks.

I loaded 80000 records into the BOM. For this many records I
recommend it. You need either provision or the import utility
but I recommend the import utility if your not a programmer.
