Box Labels

Steve,
Using the reportbuilder interface, one has to manually edit the
filter of the report to include the part number(s) of the labels they want
to print. Report Builder pulls the part information directly from the
database.
When I get the chance I'll send that report to you

Best Regards,
Thaddeus

Thad,

We are just about to convert to Vantage doing the labels. Do you pick
up the label information from a comment file or what? Would you send me
a copy of your report builder report? Thanks in advance for your help.

We simply created a ReportBuilder report to print it's
information within
the size of the label, independant of the labeling software, and
this works
fine for us.

Does anyone have any advise on printing box labels in Vantage?
In my former
system, I was able to create a dbf file that stored the
information I needed
for the boxes. I then launched a text file that initiated a run
command in
my labeling software. We are using Label Matrix (Strandware)
but we are not
married to any program. I will need information for the jobhead
and
orderdtl tables in Vantage. Can I just have the operator launch
Label
Matrix, enter in the job# and order number and order line? Then
print the
labels after he enters the quantity needed? Any advise would be
appreciated.

You can still do this with Vantage. It takes a little imagination and a
small bit of programming.

What I did was to setup a Progress routine (button) right in the Vantage VB
form to extract the "Vantage Shipping Information" and dump it down to a
flat text file on the local hard drive (data.txt). It then executes a
visual basic program to read in the data.txt and save it in a data.dbf file,
then it simply executes the "Label Matrix" print engine using a specified
label /L=<filename> (taken from the Customer VB field) and quantity
/C=<labelcount> (taken from the Vantage shipping detail). The labels come
right off a networked Zebra barcode label printer (140xii). We have been
using "Label Matrix" for years (before Vantage). I really like the program
and was determined to make it work with Vantage.
