Changing Cost method on new parts

I have just DMT’ed in some new parts in our test database and all our templates are set to AVG cost.

Just running additional part plant DMT and I’m getting errors about different site costing methods. I have tried to change at both site and part level the costing method but at this method, answering either yes or no, results in the method staying as Std and the part level. Is there a way to change? Also tried dmting avg and it completes with 0 errors but no change:

If you manually change the Cost method on the part’s detail sheet, you get prompted to change the cost method on all plants.

DMT (for Part) has a column named UpdatePartPlant When this column is true, the cost method and Non-Stock values supplied will update the partplant records too (without any prompts).

I’m not sure what affect this would have on the Non-Stock field on partplant records, if the non-stock column is not specified in the DMT file.

Thanks for that Calvin. I have added that to the DMT and ran again but Std persists.

You DMT’d using the Part “table”, with just the minimum fields?
(Company, PartNum, CostMethod and the UpdatePartPlant)

that’s right. The thing that is getting me is even through the GUI it still goes back to Std. I have confirmed there are no BPMs, data or method on part. The only BPM is the changelog which ironically does not show how it went from AVG to STD! Looks like i am doing a db restore.

There are other factors that affect which of the cost method types can be used. You cannot set it to AVG unless it is Qty Bearing.

Also, do you have any on hand? if so, I don’t believe you can change the costing method.
