Changing Employee IDs

Lori,

We also use text. Actually a combination of text and numbers. Their
employee I.D. consist of their First Initial, Last Inititial, followed by
the last 4 digits of their SSN. There have beeen no problems in two years.

Lori,

We have employee IDs similar to what you describe, and also use data
collection. They don't have any problems with a textual ID. I'd think twice
before I go to all the trouble you're laying out. It really does work fine!

Subject: [Vantage] Changing Employee IDs

Has anyone had the need to change their Vantage Employee IDs. The accountant
before me used last names and as many letters of the first name that would
fit as the employee id. As I try to implement data collection, I want to
give each employee a number that they use instead of part of their names. My
only thought on how to do this would be at year end after W-2s are done.
Replacing the existing SSN with fake ones and then setting up each employee
all over again with their real SSN and the employee ID we would like to
replace.

Is there a tool I can export the employees, change their ids and reimport?
Right now we only have about 55 employees but expect to have 80 by year end.
Wanted to try to avoid spending a weekend at year end to reenter everyone.

We no longer allow attachments to files. To access/share Report Files,
please go to the following link: http://www.egroups.com/files/vantage/
(Note: If this link does not work for you the first time you try it, go to
www.egroups.com, login and be sure to save your password, choose My Groups,
choose Vantage, then choose Files. If you save the password, the link above
will work the next time you try it.)
