How to add a compiled Crystal Report as a Vantage menu option.
The following procedure will allow you to call a compiled Crystal Report
(.EXE) from a Vantage menu option. This will allow you to use Vantage menu
security to control user access to these reports.
Step #1: Create a Progress program (.W) file to call the Crystal Report
..EXE.
This program (.W) file would contain the following code:
============================================================
DEFINE VARIABLE ProgNamePath as CHARACTER NO-UNDO.
DEFINE VARIABLE ReturnCode AS INTEGER NO-UNDO.
PROCEDURE WinExec EXTERNAL "KERNEL32.DLL":
DEFINE INPUT PARAMETER ProgramName AS CHARACTER.
DEFINE INPUT PARAMETER VisualStyle AS LONG.
DEFINE RETURN PARAMETER StatusCode AS LONG.
END PROCEDURE.
/***********************************************************************
Set the ProgNamePath variable value to the location\Crystal Report's .EXE
***********************************************************************/
ProgNamePath = "W:\Vantage\UD\Scrap By Reason Detail.exe".
RUN WinExec (INPUT ProgNamePath, INPUT 1, OUTPUT ReturnCode).
=====================================================================
The example above shows how a "Scrap By Reason Detail.Exe" would be called.
Include the full path to the compile report .exe.
Save this file as UD<Compile ReportName>.W and eliminate the spaces.
For example: Scrap By Reason Detail.exe "save as" UDScrapByReasonDetail.w
Step #2: Copy the UD<Compile ReportName>.W file to the \Vantage\UD folder.
Step #3: Use Vantage Menu Structure Maintenance to add a new menu option to
call the UD<Compile ReportName>.W
Note: Menu ID must start with UD. Any naming convention for the remaining
characters can be used.
Program must always include UD/UD<Compile Report Name>.W
