I compile my reports and add them to the menu. I haven't had any
problems with it prompting me for the parameters.

I'll email you my set of instructions for compiling reports.

Todd:

I wrote a report with a parameter field kind of like a filter and have
noticed when I run crystal via the compiled reports, etc it doesn't
prompt. Does the distributed reports lack this functionality?

The distribution wizard packages all the DLL's and just what is needed
to run the report and installs it on the user PC. The user never has
any of the development capabilities and all that. No license is
involved for the user to run the distributed report. I have never
attempted to locate the compiled report on the server and use the DLL's
loaded by Vantage for it's reports to run it like Vantage does but it
might be possible I suppose. Also most of mine use just the DBF files
created by standard Vantage reports otherwise I do have to setup ODBC
too for the user.

When I run the distribution wizard (add-on for Crystal 8.5 - available
on Epicor FTP site) from within the development version on my PC it
creates (in a folder setup I added on the server) a folder for that
report with all the DLLs and a setup.exe program. Running the setup
from the client creates all that is needed to run it in the user's
Program Files folder structure (assuming non-ODBC). I point the
Favorites bar link at the .exe file there.

I down loaded this document from Epicor "How to add a compiled Crystal

Todd:

You mean you have to install crystal reports on each user's workstation?

We put all our distributed Crystal reports in the Favorites bar for each
user that needs them. Since each user has to be "installed" anyway I
add it then and this works better than having menu links for reports
that not everyone has installed.

I down loaded this document from Epicor "How to add a compiled Crystal
Report as a Vantage menu option", where I basically have to create a .w
file or a routine. Is there anyone out there with better instructions
or a different method for this task?

Thanks,
