Completed Parts Qty Checks

Thanks for your input I am going to take this up with the Vantage folks
today.

The whole thing with the output bins I think is related to the Advanced
Materials Management module which we don't have (yet) and don't really want
to buy for this problem.

In my humble opinion, this is one place where Vantage has a serious flaw.

The Shipping and Receipt from Manu modules allows you to ship or stock
pieces which have not been completed or have been completed but have already
been shipped or stocked before. The shipper should check very carefully
before completing these transaction, and has been told multiple times to do
so. But the check is not always easy requires multiple screens and
sometimes gets bypassed when the rush is one. This problem causes us grief
multiple times a month, where the shipper ships and stocks the same parts
usually because she gets mixed up information. It is very difficult to
correct properly when using average costing. We end up spending hours
unraveling the costs, and once done it is not always easy to correct using
the tools provided. Each error has its own story.

It would be so much better if Vantage had a built in check that the pieces
are indeed available, complete and not already gone. I understand that in
shops which don't use the plant floor data collector the completed parts at
the final op would not be available, which is why I think this check should
be configurable on or off.

Last November I put in an enhancement request to this end with basically no
response. I understand that the AMM module has some way of addressing this,
but that is expensive and overkill for what should be basic functionality.

My question is this, am I missing something? Is this functionality
somewhere in Vantage already? If not, why isn't it near the top of the
enhancement requests? I have to imagine that other sites have the same
problem.

What do you all think.

We have the same problem - even if Vantage would have a qty already posted/shipped like there is in the material issuance section it would be better - to have something that is on the same screen to check to see if that work order has already been posted to or shipped against would make it easier to check the w/o status each time. So if you find anything out about that situation I would be greatly interested in a solution.

Wasn't one of the enhancements with 5.1 or 5.2 was that you could not ship
from a bin that doesn't have parts? I thought I read that somewhere. We have
this problem here as well. On of the things we do on a daily basis is run a
report that shows the completed qty vs the shipped qty and look at the
negative ones.
