Convmap.cp

Hello group,
Heres what fixed the "Unable to open convmap" error for me. Tech support
sent me the same info that Britt posted. This fix bothered me because I
have 30+ workstations that work just fine, why should I go mucking around on
the server, potentially causing a network wide problem. Bart and Troy's
suggestion made more sense. On the workstation I tried to uninstall progress
9.1c but got an error so I manually cleaned up the regestry removing all old
references to progress. I then reinstalled the progress client from the
server using progress\netsetup\setup.exe like Bart and Troy suggested.
Problem solved. Total time about 15 minutes, mostly spent deleting entries
in the regestry.

Thanks for the help.
Mark

We had a similar problem, and here is what epicor sent us to fix it:

Summary: RB, unable to open convmap with custom report links
Book: Support Solutions
Page: 1229MPS

XA 5.00

Problem: Opening custom report links in Vantage generates error: unable
to
open convmap

Resolution: Vantage 5.00 no longer uses the registry to connect to
report
builder

1.) Open the report builder.vtg and edit the "other parameters" line it
should look like this, with reference to the proper mapped drive and
server:

[Vantage Startup]
Executable=V:\Progress\bin\prorb32.exe
Database=V:\Vantage\db\vantage
IniFile=V:\Vantage\Vantage.ini
ParameterFile=V:\Vantage\db\Vantage.pf
ConnectOptions=-N TCP -H mntech -S epic50
TempDirectory=C:\Vntg50
StartupProcedure=
OtherParameters=

Note: the 'OtherParameters=' line is blanked out

Apparently this causes no problem with the database engine because it
uses
the registry so. You will also need to edit the
progress\Bin\progress.ini
to reference the mapped drive path instead of the physical drive path.
The
startup section should look something like this:

[Startup]
V6Display=no
;ImmediateDisplay=yes
;MultitaskingInterval=100
DefaultFont=MS Sans Serif, size=8
DefaultFixedFont=Courier New, size=8
DLC=V:\progress
Use-3D-Size=Yes
PROBUILD=V:\progress\PROBUILD
PROPATH=.,V:\progress\gui,V:\progress,V:\progress\bin,V:\progress\PROBUILD\E

UCAPP\EUC.PL,V:\progress\PROBUILD\EUCAPP
UseSourceEditor=yes
EditorConfigPath=V:\prowork\proedit

Where V is a mapped drive.
Pay special attention to the DLC path, that it says V:\progress, NOT
V:\epic50\progress

I have had the problem before. If I remember properly the answer is to
reinstall Vantage on the workstation.

Go to Eportal on the Epicor site the is a document in there with the answer.

Mark,

If you have support, call. They do have the answer to this, but there are
some config type files that may have to be updated. As I recall, I had this
problem and ended up reinstalling progress on the server about a dozen
times. It turned out to be something else, so keep that in mind. I wish I
could remember just what it was exactly. Support should be able to walk you
through the solution though.

This one was suggested on another group a while back, and may work for you:

When I got this error on a couple of clients I would just reinstall
progress(from the netsetup folder) on the client and it would take care of
the problem. You may have to clean the progress references from the
registry first.

Mark,
What I have done in the past to fix this error was to uninstall progress 9.xx from the workstation. Then reinstall Progress using the Netsetup folder rather than the normal VantageClientInstall.exe icon. You can find the netsetup folder in the V:\progress\netsetup Then double-click the setup.exe file and follow the instructions.
