CRM Users Wanted

Yes- I agree- the CRM module is almost remedial/infantile if you will and the sales guys sold us on a dog and pony show- Funny enough we made our decision based on the critical Sales Pipeline reporting requirements that we had and Vantage did not deliver. It works if you sell straight to the customer and thats it. But if you have any kind of project tracking involved where you might sell to multiple independent reps or VARs you have to get really really creative and do a lot of custom reporting to track this. The whole terminology used in CRM is not very Sales oriented.
The also need to improve and streamline the Quoting module from a sales perspective. We've had Sales people who are now revolting and are falling behind if you have to use a product configurator (which we do) and enter a 50 line quote for a customer. They'd much rather use an Excel spreadsheet and have someone else enter the data. ALWAYS PLEASE do a proof of concept of your business scenario with the Epicor sales guy-its worth paying a portion of the expenses of time and material to prove out your business problem first before committing. They are at least two re-writes away from a solid CRM system. The setups on territory ids and work-force ids and task setups can get pretty hefty and time consuming and are prone to easy errors.

It turns out that the only thing we could see that this module did was
add the ability to track sales by marketing campaign and track market
campaign budgets on the most basic level.

As a result of this discovery, we decided to uninstall the CRM module
because this is not something that we would use.

In hindsight, we should have dug deeper to find out what the sales guy
meant when he said that we needed the CRM module.

So I guess the point of my story is to make sure the CRM package will do
what you want it to do before you start working to get it on-line.

Hello All,

My company's sales force is at a crossroads and we would like to take
advantage of the Vantage CRM module we received when we purchased
Vantage 8.0.

I am looking for "anyone" who has taken this moduel live and would
like to hear thier success stories or disasters.

Thanks in advance,

We have had the same experience in v.6.1. Simple sales $'s forecasting
by salesperson, by region, seems to have eluded Epicor. We'll have to
deal with a lot of it outside of Vantage. We purchased CRM 2 years ago
and have yet to use it.
