Custom Table vs. Custom Field

Never mind, I do believe that was a very dumb question...I see it now.

Thanks to everyone for your help.

That's what I originally thought, but I'm not sure how to populate it
with a list of choices...

Hi Michelle,

Not sure what version you are using, but if it is version 8 you can use
customization to add an Ultra Combo field. In version 6 you can add a
vb field.

I want to add a field to the parts table that contains a pick list of
options. For example I want to label each part with a specific pricing
strategy; off the shelf, proprietary, spare parts, catalog, etc...

Can I add a custom field (character 01) to the parts screen and make it
a pick list? If not, how do I link a custom table to the parts table?

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

If these are manufactured items, why not use Sales Categories?

Or use sales categories regardless of whether it is mfg or purchased?

Saves time from using a ud table or custom field.
