This is my first time participating in this forum, although this forum has been a great learning tool the past few months.
I was wondering how I would go about (if possible) to remove the red dot icon in the job entry tree for parts we have set to non-qty bearing ? All I could find is a table JobMtl that has a ShowStatusIcon column. I am comfortable with SQL but I have been told not to do any direct work in the SQL database, could I do this through Epicors customization ?
Let me restart. The red dot shows up initially to indicate that you don’t have quantity available for that line in the warehouse that the job is scheduled in. For non-quantity bearing parts, it’s looking for a PO to show that you are buying to the job. If no PO is linked, it will show a red dot.
After the job operations are completed and material issued, the red dot will persist if the quantity required > quantity issued. To overcome that, we set those items to 0 qty required on the line. These are things that are typically expensed like shop supplies but also things like reference drawings. I’m not sure if this is your case…
Thank you for your quick response and explanation.
The parts that we have set to non-qty are ones we purchase and essentially don’t have to worry not having enough of. They are small things like screws etc, we will sometimes run into issues confirming the job when Epicor identifies we do not have enough. My question is if I can override or create the logic/rule that will remove the red dot from non-qty parts.
Do you just want it there so folks know what screw to use or do you want a qty associated. If you want a qty associated, if you backflush that may get rid of the constraint. If you don’t need a qty then set it as fixed qty for 0 and that will make it a reference material.
I was just using a screw as an example for a non-qty bearing part that we order, and since they never have to worry about it being out of stock they want me to remove the little red icon that appears once Epicor declares the part as being out/low. If I set the fixed qty to 0 and make it a reference material, will the red icon stop appearing ? For example, in the picture they want the screws to stop displaying the icon
Do you do anything special to capture those costs or do they more or less just go into misc. COGS when you pay the supplier? I ask because we also disregard the red dots on fasteners because they are all vendor managed bins… but we still show them as quantity bearing, stockable parts and they will go into the job cost as material costs. We just don’t care if the bin says we have -7000 because we know we have them.
If you want to include the costs, then you would want to use backflushing. I’m not sure if a backflushed part will show the shortage icon (red dot) or not. Backflushing is typically used for materials like screws, nuts, bolts, zip-ties. Stuff that no one is going to issue or count but you want some cost attributed.
