Data Collection and Job Tracker

Facts on Data Collection License:
You can see Shop Tracker And Job Tracker under Executive Analysis/Trackers.
You can add Shop Tracker and Job Tracker as shortcuts.
If you cant do the above check out security access did you somehow block
this.
You can modify the menu structure and add Shop Tracker and Job Tracker under
Data Collection yourself if you like.

Subject: RE: [Vantage] Data Collection and Job Tracker

Hello all:

I opened up this can of worms about Part and or Job Tracker being available
to Data Collection workstations. Somewhere we went completely off-track, but
I called Vantage support to check if we could add the trackers to the menu
and still have that workstation be considered a Data Collection license.

Yes, you can get part or job tracker if you are a data collection user
beginning or ending activity. But if you are not beginning or ending
activity, you must use a "full user license" workstation.

This needs to be added to the suggested enhancements list for the trackers
to be available on all data collection stations.

Here is the response from tech support That call # is 658730.

Lydia,
I tested your request on Vantage 4.00 by adding Part Tracker directly to the
DataCollection Menu. Assigned it a security id of SEC412 which controls
DataCollection. Logged in using the DataCollection icon and it is still
blocking the use of the Part Tracker Program. Checked with development and
confirmed that parameter DataCollectionUser=YES in the DataCollction.VTG
file causes the mainmenu to inactivate all non-datacollection programs.
My suggestion would be to contact the Vantage On-list and
place enhancement suggestion with I believe it is the V-List group. Mike
England should be able to assist. They are gathering all hot new
enhancements and I know this is one. To add at least Part and Job tracker
to the DataCollection menu options.

Thanks to all of you in advance for your patience in this. I think this
would be a valuable enhancement in Data Collection.

We definitely have Data Collection users in Vantage 4.00.812 who are not
running the Data Collection screen at all but can run Job Tracker and Shop
Tracker from Favorites items, as well as from the Job-General Operations
menu. These are "not" full users because they regularly get the message "No
more Data Collection licenses, try later" and they don't enter a password
when they login. Menu access had to be granted to a security group we
created "Data Collection" which has as a member the user "Shop". All other
menus I did not want them to have were flagged "disallow".

As for the response from tech support I think either they (or I) are
confused or not specific about version. Our efforts to reduce shop paper
depend greatly on production people being able to lookup job info at Data
Collection PCs. Especially out QA inspectors who must lookup PO# for
subcontractor operations.
