Is it possible to delete all traces of a company from Epicor (10.1.500.8) and all underlying tables?
We had about 15 companies that were sold during our Epicor implementation in 2016/17 and were only partially set up. We added “DNU” to each company name, went live in late 2017, and basically have been ignoring them. But I’d like to wipe out all the partially set-up companies and data from the underlying tables.
Is there a data-fix out there for this kind of thing? We’re on Epicor 10.1.500.8
Not sure, but if there is one, then Tech Support is the best source. Note that this is not “tables” that need deleted, but data INSIDE all the tables. Epicor doesn’t create a new set of tables for each company. Instead, each record in (nearly) every table has a company field. If you add a the same part into 10 companies, you will end up with 10 records in the part table, each with the company field filled in.
I recently had a call with Epicor Support for this exact same thing for the same reason and they said they did not have and did not provide a data fix to clean out old companies.
There is a database purge for some records and you can delete the company but that only removes the company record so it cannot be accessed, it does not clear rows from all the tables for those companies.
It maybe possible to create an SQL script that would go through all tables and remove all records related to specific companies, but I have not had that time nor guts to attempt it. @sport If support provides any better help than that for you, please post back here as I think there are others interested in this topic.
I miraculously deleted a company via the admin console. You first have to identify all of the underlying items dependent on the company. Person/contacts, ummm territories etc. You can keep removing these until the system lets you delete the company via right click delete on the company in the EAC.
yes, just keep trying to delete the company and it’ll warn you if any type of existing records exists that must be deleted before deleting the company.
I’m going to assume that what you did merely removed the appearance of the company (and the ability to use it in the future), but that all the tables still contain records for the removed company.
No, I right clicked the company in the EAC and clicked delete. The deletion process took about an hour and a half but it completed successfully and all traces of the company were gone from the DB.
Wow… Epicor actually lets you do something you want to do!
Was there any “sharing” between companies? I can’t figure out how inter-company transactions could be deleted, without messing up the remaining company.
I can attest to @jgehling 's method to remove a company. He worked on our system when we separated from the parent company and it works flawlessly 1 year later
