Diagnosing performance issues

What operating system is your server using?

We have been advised by Progress (via Epicor) that we should download and
install Windows Dynamic Cache Service on our server as this is meant to give
some performance constants and is meant to stop regular slow downs. They
recommend allocating 1/4 of the system memory in this.
Â
Havent tried it yet but apparently a few have and it did make a difference.
Â
Alternatively, you could schedule the apps and db to stop/start every night.
This stopped us having any issues like the one you described.
Â
I have instructions for this if you would like a copy.

This isn't going to be too helpful, but based on my experience it just does
that. Vantage is Pig :(

We have developed performance issues on our Vantage server. When the system bogs down, we typically have two _proapsv.exe processes that will consume 60-70% of the processor. Does anyone know how to determine what underlying Epicor program is associated with a specific _proapsv.exe process. Is there a Progress utility that can show you what user, dll, or open files are associated with a _proapsv.exe process?
Thanks for the advice.

If you use your PET tool and look at the PID for each Appserver that PID
will match up with the PID that shows in the Windows Task Manager under the
Processes Tab. This way you will know which Appserver is consuming the most
amount of memory. Also if you look at your System Monitor within Epicor, on
the Active Tasks tab it will show the programs or processes currently
running and the PID associated with that program or process which again
coincides with the PID shown in the Windows Task Manager. This will help
you to determine which parts of Epicor are consuming the most amount of your
processor.
