[6.1 - Prg9.1d] Finding System Hogs

That depends how your users are logging onto the server. With Citrix sessions and prg91.d, I could see who's process was using assigned to the process using a tool called procexp.exe (process explorer). It's a free utility available from sysinternals.com

If someone is opening a report three times they have three separate connections

up processor time. If you check users in Vantage against users in Promon the
difference is either Report Builder users or ODBC users. I don't know how to
see this with PET. I also don't know of a way to limit the number of
connections a users can make.

In the past I have seen where if a user runs a report and gets impatient and runs it again because nothing seemed to happen (and then again and again and again....assuiring that nothing will happen) we end up with a bunch of run away processes and the whole server comes to its knees.

I have a situation right now that occurs from time to time. CPU on Vantage server is pegged at 100% and it appears to be 3 specific occurances of _mprosrv that are using it all. In the past I have seen where if a user runs a report and gets impatient and runs it again because nothing seemed to happen (and then again and again and again....assuiring that nothing will happen) we end up with a bunch of run away processes and the whole server comes to its knees.

So, is there any way to identify which User #s in ProMon or PET or something are responsible for the CPU usage? Normally we run 10-15% CPU utilization on the server.
