Anyone else find it frustrating you can not get to the main Part Tracker
Screen when you right click and select Part Tracker from another module. You
can't get Memo's, Routing, BOM, Revision Info, etc...
You would think at least the Memo's would be visible.

For what its worth I am a user of crystal 8.5 and Vantage 5.0. I also had
problems with the crpe32.dll. Vantage 5.0 will not print correctly with the
version 8.5 dll. I currently use crystal and save my reports as a version
7.

I'm working on that issue with tech support right now. I'll let you know.
Also, you have the option of contacting Seagate directly to get an older
version of Crystal (such as 8.0) for a fee.

The last I heard, there was an issue with Crystal 8.5 and Vantage
5.1. Recommendation was to use 8.0. Does anybody know if this is
still the recommendation? I'm still on Crystal Reports 5.0 with
Vantage 3.0, but if all goes according to plan, I'll be on 5.1 for
the first of the year. Haven't been able to quickly locate 8.0 for
sale, even on the Seagate site. Thanks - Les

This seems like a recurring pain in our backsides, so I called
support to find out if changing service names every time we upgrade
is necessary. Per Chris at Tech Support, it is not. Therefore, when
we get to the point of testing 5.1, I'm going to try using the old
service names and I shouldn't have to go through the torture of
changing all my reports. If someone else wants to try it before I
get to it, of course I'd like to hear how it turns out.

had field changes, but the receptionist just made not of those

able to be done before the conversion. I also had the receptionist
modify the Custom Report Links so that they pointed to the new

I think you would would want to uninstall the previous version before using
the new one, which would mean having a big hassle if you had to go back
again (if there was a glitch in the conversion). Otherwise it should work.
Not only the service name, but the mapped drive would have to be the same as
well (or the physical path to the database).

I don't know if the mapped drive matters for these. You can set the
location in Report Builder to be "Db\vantage.db", so as long as the vantage
database is still called 'vantage' and still resides in the db folder, you
won't have to change anything there, no matter which drive is mapped.
Similarly, in 'Custom Report links' you can set the location to be
"ud\LibraryName.PRL" and as long as that folder doesn't change from version
to version you won't have to update those either.

Subject: 1432 Error - Could not connect to server...
Hi --
I am getting an error: Could not connect to server for database
V:\Vantage\db\vantage, errno 0 (1432). This error just started
happening on Friday, and appears to happen twice/day, at around 8:50
AM and 11:30 AM. The message will last for about 50 minutes, then
magically goes away and people can then login to Vantage. People who
are in Vantage when this happens are not affected - they can continue
to work without problem. Any idea what might cause this?
We are running Vantage v5.0.332 on a Windows 2000 server. When we
have this problem, it affects everyone (Win9x, Win2000 desktops, and
the Win2000 server). It has happened pretty consistently for the
last three days. The only change we really made was that on Thursday
I talked to support and we optimized the database. The changes took
affect Thursday nite when I restarted our server. In the process we
added a group in the Progress Explorer Tool under
defaultConfiguration called ODBCgroup, that was for our ODBC
connections. Talking to support, they tell me that this should not
be the problem, that a 1432 error is a network error.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

this?

Official word from Epicor is that Progress has not tested Windows XP yet,
and won't until there is a commercial release (which I think has happened
now). So there may be word by the end of the year. Until then, Epicor does
not support Windows XP. (That doen't mean it won't work, however. It just
means they don't officially support it.)
