James,
Are you opening the reports in RB and modify the database, mapped drive
stuff, tcp stuff PRIOR to open the report? If you did not modify the report
to read the new database, you might have a lot of problems. If you did
modify the report, you should not have major problems other than obsolete
fields.
This is also a great opportunity to see how many of those custom link
reports are actually used. I modified the reports that I knew were needed
and you will be surprise about the amount of reports in custom link that
were not used, yet they were there. The beauty of reports is that you can
modify them ahead of time and whenever you are live, the reports are done
(Crystal and RB). Regardless, allocate 20% of your time after update to deal
with reports.
I modified the new Crystal reports since they are running on 8.5 rather than
8.0 and you might have a lot of problems with .dll files especially in
Terminal Server. So far, I have the invoice report that cannot be modified
and run in TS and per Support, the error I get could be almost
anything.....Therefore, I asked one of the companies to create their own
stationary with the information required.
Good Luck!

Subject: [Vantage] Vantage 5.0 - 6.1 Upgrade ( Report Builder )
We are getting ready to move from 5.0 to 6.1 but are concerned about
reports. We setup a test server and vantage worked well but in changing the
database name from vantage to mfgsys we have been unable to get the reports
to work without rewriting most of them. I was thinking about leaving the
database names and paths the same during the upgrade. Does anyone have any
advice /comments?
