WE are DMTing jobs into Kinetic. We have imported everything but we have not figured out how to schedule all of the jobs imported. What are the steps to do a mass scheduleing of jobs. WE have over 900 jobs to scheduel
As long as the jobs are engineered, released, and have a Required Due data, I would think running Global Scheduling would work.
Global scheduling is the go-to. If you are in a data migration process from another ERP and you need your start date or due date to be exactly the same (let’s say similar) as before, you can schedule with DMT. This post talks about it.
Before just running Global Scheduling wide open, check a couple of settings in Company Configuration > Production… “Global Reschedule Started Operations” and “Allow Scheduling Before Today”. Make sure they are set the way you want them to be (system help has pretty good explanations). If you make changes to either of them, log out of Epicor and then log back in so they take effect.
Then run the program called Calculate Global Scheduling Order. This looks at all your jobs first, and puts them in sequence (mostly by Required By date, but other variables are there too) so the ones that need to finish sooner get to start (or continue) sooner. With 900+ jobs to schedule, this will probably take a few hours (the longer and more complicated your routings are, the longer it will take to work them all through).
THEN you can run Global Scheduling to actually schedule the jobs. This will also probably take a few hours.
If you aren’t planning to use Global Scheduling functionality going forward, this ought to be enough. If you DO want to have your planners using it, I STRONGLY recommend the Scheduling Technical Reference Guide (requires EpicWeb login).
