DMT to Close Jobs

It's greyed out. When I open or close the jobs it stays grey.

You can see it in Job Closing.

Hi, wondering if you know how or where to clear the WIP flag.

When you re-open jobs and issue material – make sure the Cleared WIP flag becomes un-checked or the dollars of the newly issued material stays in WIP.

Funny, i just gave the auto closing/completion process a whirl but I am not familiar with it at all, it didn't seem to to close or update anything, of course all the jobs are already marked closed and completed.

Now that we are on the same page, I think it wasn't letting me update the mtl because the jobs were closed and complete, I am reopening them and going to give issuing them another shot and will also try to just delete them.

If I can't get that to work I will give the auto closing/completion process another shot while the jobs are open.

I will let you know what I find.

Hi all,
I am trying to use DMT to close a group of open jobs, I tried just marking them complete and closed, but since materials and operations are still open on them they still creating demand and suggestions for mtl purchases. If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it.  We are on 8.03.410.

Thanks,
Mitch
Try using the job closing screen...it is actually the best method to close a job.  But talk to your accounting group first.  If you are closing jobs where the proper costs have not hit, you are undervaluing your parts and overstating your profits!

Hi Manassa, yes I understand all that. I am in a test environment trying to close out 1700 jobs to do some MRP testing.
I was able to delete 500 of them, others are still referenced by material trans/demand/PO's.
Go to the job closing screen and close then there for MRP testing!

DMT won't help you with that screen.

But if you have to use DMT, then you want to complete these jobs first, then close.

Yes I understand job closing is the way to close out jobs, but if I have to go through the job closing screen to close out 1200 of these it will take me all day maybe longer, there has to be a quicker way. My method so far has been this:

DMT'd all Incomplete jobs "complete"
DMT'd all Open Jobs "Closed"
Deleted 500 of those jobs with DMT
Attempted to DMT the Job Mtl to "issued complete" with no luck.

These jobs are still creating purchasing suggestions, only thing i can think of is that the JobMtl records are still creating demand since they are marked open even though the jobs are marked complete and closed.
How about deleting the material requirements from the instead of issuing them?

Also look at the auto close process?  Since you are in the test environment, you can play with the tolerances to close automatically.  the tolerances are based on what your company deems acceptable to close a job based on the non-issuing of material and or labor.

Someone will have to verify this but I think this process works as long as the last operation is complete.  It has been a while since I set this up.

Hi,

I know what to do!  There is different case in fact.

First, are your parts serial tracked?  If yes, the system will always tell you to make them and make suggestions if you didn't complete those serial numbers you were supposed to do.  If it's the case, you must first de-assigned the serial numbers that are not complete.  Then, you have to modify (throught DMT would certainely work) the prodqty field in the jobprod table.  To do this, you have to reopen the job I think and uncomplete them....  Through DMT too.

It's the same if the job is not for a serial tracked part, you have to make the prodqty field of the jobprod table the same quantity as the quantity really completed for those jobs (if the quantity completed is 0 for everything, it's fine!  You'll just have to put 0 on every prodqty of every job).  Then you can complete and closed them.

If you still seems to have lingering informations on those jobs, you'll have to look at what is going on in the partdtl table.  It's a table where all jobs and parts have links together and might contains link that needs to be deleted.

Good day to you!

You can create an updateable dashboard to close jobs. That’s the easiest way…

Good day to you!

When I have had to close a large number of jobs first a get a list of jobs in Excel.

I do an  insert under the list view in Job Closing

Then I copy the list to excel – change the flags for Closed and Complete to True.

Then I do a update.

You will still get the message that the job is not complete etc. but , it can be fast.

When you re-open jobs and issue material – make sure the Cleared WIP flag becomes un-checked or the dollars of the newly issued material stays in WIP.

Some of the functionality in that screen is actually built into the screen and not db fields.  You can call the method from an updatable dashboard, but not from the DMT.  Ran into this before and had to build an updatable dashboard, then export the list, and paste update....  You may be able to build a BPM that can be called when the DMT is run that runs the desired business object...  Not sure as I haven't tried that before.

Have you thought about using the

DMT has support for Job Completion and Job Closing it calls the required business logic.

It is not recommended to use an updatable dashboard to change the field status on the JobHead as this will not perform the same logic.

Things like backflushing, PartWip and MtlQueue cleanup will not occur.

If you create an updatable dashboard that calls a BPM method that you have overridden to call the JobClosing business object and the necessary method calls, then yes you could make it work this way but if you already have DMT, just press go.
