Dynamically building tables in Access

You can link directly to tables in progress using Access.

Epicor has a document called V800odbcKit.rtf
That describes how to setup an ODBC Connection.
I'll email you the file.

I have successfully pushed data into progress database.
When pushing data YOu can't push more than 7000 records. I don't kow
where this limit is imposed? PRogress? ODBC Connection? Access?
Suggestions anyone? I just broke my queries up to work around it.

I have pushed parts, BOM, Vendors, etc. Just have to ensure you enter
correct IDs and link everything together.
DEFINATELY BACKUP before doing this stuff.

good Luck
Lyndon

Just about everything is possible in Access. When you say build, copy
and search tables do you mean to build a table in Access or to build the
table in Vantage? We do not update the Vantage tables or Progress
database from Access because Epicor said it would void support. This is
strange because I've done it with other systems and it works. Here, at
ROM, we do the ODBC link to the Progress tables and download the tables
to the Access database (the Access database engine where the tables are
stored is called Jet - if you wanted to store more data that Jet can
hold, which is a 2 gig limit, you could build the tables in Microsofts
SQL with Access as the front end). We have some 40 Access databases
that we use for quote and order acknowledgements, hard and soft
production schedules, packing slips, shipping labels and on and on.
About the one thing we have not done is print a BOM.
