From the sounds of it there is data they are exporting that already has returns in it. Is that correct? Do you need to export it as a BPM? If you use C# in a customization you have some of those regex functions available to you to do something like that.

A BPM can do it, it would validate it as part of a pre-processing BPM probably on Update. They would be able to enter whatever they like and the BPM would raise an error condition.
To prevent them from entering while it is happening you might attach code to the KeyDown/KeyPress events for that control or the Column Change event for the field.
There are quite a number of examples of handling this at the control level both on the Infragistics and other websites. (Epicor controls are based on Infragistics controls).
