For those interested "Named Pipe" was not enabled in SQL.
Enabled at SQL Server Configuration Manager.

Subject: [Vantage] E9: SQL connection failed when try to Install E9.05(SQL)
I have had success in creating a self-contained HyperV E9 environment for testing (SQL 2012, OpenEdge 10.2, and EPICOR 9.05.700) and trying to replicate the install on our new SQL 2012 server and two EPICOR servers HyperV VM's (connected by NLB). After struggling with the documentation on NLB (EPICOR ERP Performance and Tuning Guide - Virtual Environment), I got NLB working in a Hyper V environment and now I am attempting to install OpenEdge 10.2a and Epicor 9.05.700.
1. OpenEdge installed with no problem, but I don't understand how to configure it for NLB.
2. EPICOR 9.05.700 is not able to install because of the following error : "SQL connection failed. Would you like to try again"

I receive the error when using SQL sa account and EPICOR domain user account. I am able to ping the SQL server. I do notice that the EPICOR install states it is looking for a SQL 2008 instance and our new SQL server is SQL 2012, so I try to see if the installation can see our existing SQL 2005 server and the error persists. (pull on hair now).
I stopped the installation and removed NLB and tried again and problem still persists.
I am at a loss and request any assistance that can be provided.
