Employee ID Cards with photo

I just uploaded an example of a report I used to print badges. Let
me know if questions.

Our 4.00 to 5.20 conversion went pretty well over the weekend (after a few
startup bumps along the way). Now we are facing an issue where production
engineers can't add operations to a part revision and can't approve
revisions. They cn check the part out in the Engineering Workbench but the
"Operation" and "Material" options are grayed out as is the "approve" check
box for the part. When I try it I get these just fine. Funny thing is they
HAVE Engineering Manager as an access group and I don't.

Anyone know what you have to have security wise or whatever to be able to
modify parts and approve revisions?

Thanks,
-Todd Caughey

PS - Once the startup fires settle down I'm going to send a list of things
in the upgrades I ran into and had not seen discussed previously.

Todd,

I'm on v 4.0 but I remember seeing a thread on this before, seems like the part has to be checked out before it can be modified or revised, not sure what has to be checked on anything. I wish I could be of more help.

Yes, we are doing the checking out process OK and opening Engineering
Workbench to get into the part but once inside the needed options are not
active. Seems to be a security issue. Changing a part in 5.20 is VERY
different from before.

The previous message concerned steps required to check a part out in order
to activate Engineering Workbench. The solution ended up coming from Epicor
Support. I'll probably give them a call but felt like I've bugged them
enough already today. ;)

OK, per support, the issue was in the menu security settings for changing a
bill or approving revisions under Engineering Workbench menu under ABOM
menu. There are sever sub-options and three of them had no "group" allowed
to do them. The rest have <everyone>. I added the Engineering Manager group
to the 3 without any group allowed to use them and now the people with that
group can change parts. So when switching to 52.0 be aware that some new
menu options are supplied "blank" and will need to be populated.

The previous message concerned steps required to check a part out in order
to activate Engineering Workbench. The solution ended up coming from Epicor
Support. I'll probably give them a call but felt like I've bugged them
enough already today. ;)
Thanks,

Todd this issue was mentioned last week or the week before. It is some
security issue but I don't remember exactly what. You should be able to find
it in the message archives.

Yes, we are doing the checking out process OK and opening
Engineering
Workbench to get into the part but once inside the needed options
are not
active. Seems to be a security issue. Changing a part in 5.20 is
VERY
different from before.

Todd,

I'm on v 4.0 but I remember seeing a thread on this before, seems
like the
part has to be checked out before it can be modified or revised, not
sure
what has to be checked on anything. I wish I could be of more help.

Subject: [Vantage] 5.20 Part Revision Approval

Our 4.00 to 5.20 conversion went pretty well over the weekend
(after a few
startup bumps along the way). Now we are facing an issue where
production
engineers can't add operations to a part revision and can't
approve
revisions. They cn check the part out in the Engineering
Workbench but
the
"Operation" and "Material" options are grayed out as is the
"approve"
check
box for the part. When I try it I get these just fine. Funny
thing is
they
HAVE Engineering Manager as an access group and I don't.

Anyone know what you have to have security wise or whatever to be
able to
modify parts and approve revisions?

Thanks,
-Todd Caughey

PS - Once the startup fires settle down I'm going to send a list
of things
in the upgrades I ran into and had not seen discussed previously.

We are on Vantage 5.2 and I was wanting to print bar code employee badges
with their photo. How is this done or does anyone have a form that will
work?

[Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
We did it using a third party software (Bartender by Seagull Scientific).
If you would like more details feel free to contact me off list.

Jeff,

We hack them out the old fasioned way.
We use a MS Publisher "template" , WASP Fontware (For the bar code) and a hot laminator.
Oldest cards are 3 years old and still going.

Jeff,
There is a RB report from Epicor that prints Employee Badges with Photos. I don't think the Bar Code would be hard to add. You can contact them, of if not I'll see if I can find it somewhere. It was from 5.0, I believe, but should work for 5.2 as well.

I found a report, but the pictures that are in vantage don't print. I am
not sure what version the report is for or weather it matters. I don't know
what I am doing wrong. The data is pulled to the temp vantage directory,
but the picture is not. Can a picture from a field be inserted into a
crystal report? I know how to insert a picture, and data, but not a picture
from data. It would sure be nice to have a report and just say print and it
is done with bar codes and pictures for the ID. All the data is already in
vantage, I just can't get it into a ID Badge.

With this report, if I remember correctly, you name each employees picture to their UserID.gif (ie. 5464.gif for employee 5464). With the correct path in the report, the report will read each EmployeeID, grab their picture and other related info from Vantage, and print the badges.

I can't seem to find the report now, but I am fairly sure that there is a copy at Epicor if you request it.
