Epicor 10 - Table Names

Hear, hear, Jose….it is sad to have to repeat yourself but we always have to remember that new people are constantly comping into this group.  God knows what their experiences are, and we can only let them know what Epicor allows and doesn’t allow.

Also as an example, I just went through an E9 to E10 migration where there were extra tables in the DB. It actually caused errors during the conversion because the migration tool didn't expect those tables to be in there. They happened to be named funky and caused a conflict with a few of the conversion scripts. Just not a good idea to add stuff to the Epicor DB that wasn't there.

The customer even sent the DB to Epicor to "fix" and Epicor said "Beat it... to the tune of MJ"

We were able to fix it, but it was an ugly mess.

Like I've said a billion times in this forum do not write anything to the Epicor DB directly, not even your own tables.

YOu should NOT create any new tables in your Epicor DB. Any NEW table should be in its onw DB and you can call it whatever you want

We have several tables we added for reporting purposes.

Epicor assumes that's their DB during upgrade / updates / new features etc they can create new tables that conflict, delete other stuff etc... its just not a good idea to mock with the Epicor DB. And adding another DB and linking in the data is very easy.
