Epicor Performance

We have a very similar setup & versions to the message below, and get similar numbers (.20 & .41) from the performance monitoring tool.

Internally, we measure the average server processing time of our 10 top reports, comparing month-to-month for a heads up of performance changes. Easier than trying to measure an interactive process. But unfortunately not comparable between companies, because of the different reporting requirements.

We have been using Epicor on VMware for the past 5 1/2 year, now running 905.604 in production and testing 905.700
Windows 2008r2 on SQL 2008
Would be happy to share experience, not sure how best to compare performance short on Epicor's new performance diagnostic tools measuring server and network
We usually run server at .18 sec and network at .40
Servers are split, SQL, main app server and a separate print server

Let me know if you need more help

Just curious if anyone out there is setup in a VMWare environment with
Epicor, and what your performance looks like. We are struggling through
some serious performance issues around BAQs, and have spent numerous
hours with Epicor, with no resolution in sight. We have had VMWare
experts look at our setup, and they can see no issues, but Epicor keeps
pushing back that it's our infrastructure.

What kind performance times are you getting with even simple BAQs?

Would anyone be willing to swap notes and query times? We just want to
verify if it is what it is, and need to look to other alternatives to
increase performance, or if we are experiencing abnormal performance.

Thanks in advance.

We have a relatively large 9.05.605 environment running on VMWare. I'd be happy to help if you want to drop me an email.

We are 9.05.607B, SQL Database, VMWare on our server.

I timed 3 BAQ's running from the BAQ "Analyze" > Test button:

1) ReservationWB, 8 tables, 51 fields, 1 outer join, 2971 rows, 5 seconds, 594 Rows/Second.

2) ReleaseWB, 5 tables, 36 fiels, 563 rows, 2.5 seconds, 226 Rows/Second.

3) PartDensity, 2 tables (part+Packaging), 17 fields, 1808 rows, under 2 seconds, 900+ Rows/Second.

Tips:

Be sure to include company in your joins, as every index has company leading.

Check the data dictionary to make sure as many components of the index as possible have equality matches.

Hope this helps,
Chris

Jason, I can't offer a lot on this other than I had a client a few years ago running VMWare and it turned out there were some specific hardware settings that were severly affecting performance when running VM. They were on HP hardware. I will look to see if I can find some more specific notes but I know that after some hardware setting changes performance improved dramatically

What version of VMware are you running ?

Are you using a different VM for the SQL backend ?

Are the VM's both on the same host or different hosts ?

Have you checked your VM performance with iometer ?

We have been using Epicor on VMware for the past 5 1/2 year, now running 905.604 in production and testing 905.700 Â
Windows 2008r2 on SQL 2008
Would be happy to share experience, not sure how best to compare performance short on Epicor's new performance diagnostic tools measuring server and networkÂ
We usually run server at .18 sec and network at .40
Servers are split, SQL, main app server and a separate print serverÂ

Let me know if you need more help

MottyÂ

They were on HP hardware. I will look to see if I can find some more specific notes but I know that after some hardware setting changes performance improved dramatically
