Experiencing a lag for the WIP$'s to move to COS (8.03.405)

Please do, because I have 3 jobs where I did pull a packslip, looked at
the INV-WIP showing one set of costs, but then a week later shows
another set of costs! And that just baffles me!!

We have a webex session tomorrow with tech support and I am going to
show them these 3 sets of reports (or more if I find more!).

The conversion programs are for when you are not seeing the Shipped Qty
updated on the OrderRel and other related tables.

I have not received a final answer on this yet...but it seams to be an
issue with the AR Clearing and COS when the trantype = MFG-CUS. But not
all the time...so not sure what causes it yet. We sent them our db last
night with a record in the half posted status. But I will let you know
as soo as I hear something.

One thing I did not know which I here has been up for debate for many
years...which it would be nice to know the real answer...the
Inventory/WIP Reconciliation Report is the trigger point. What?
How can you store a trigger in a report?

I think you're right Kathleen... If memory serves correctly it is odd behavior with (labor?) burden on Make Directs.

Also - if you are shipping from job & job has subcontract OPs, I seem to recall there can be a job cost delay until the actual invoice for the subcontract PO is posted after receipt/inspection. I would think this would ripple through and also result in a delay in COS.

Or, it's just Vantage (littered with big and little bugs).

I believe the movement is governed by job completion/closing process. Have
you taken a look at the "Close" date on a job and the movement of the $?

Do you consistently check the 'Post Cost of Sales /Mfg variance' check
box in Capture COS WIP screen. As this defaults to False?

Check the last run details on the right to make sure

We use Track-It! from Numara. It incorporates a PC inventory system as well as helpdesk system. It is not terribly expensive ($2K maybe), and is licensed based on the number of audited workstations and technicians. It's a pretty good value.

If you like open source, there's RT (http://bestpractical.com/rt) which I've used with a lot of success in the past, however it is really more of a Unix-oriented tool. There is a Windows installer though!

I just read about this product/service recently. No experience with it though. http://www.service-now.com/

Some people really like ManageEngine - http://www.manageengine.com/products/service-desk/index.html

There's also SpiceWorks, which is completely free: http://www.spiceworks.com/

If I didn't have an investment in Track-It, I'd look seriously at SpiceWorks.

Eventually decided to go with dotProject http://www.dotproject.net/ overall was more suited to our needs. Open source php based.

Sorry for the off-topic post, but I am wondering if anyone uses a
simple, inexpensive It ticketing system? We are looking for something
very simple where users could log in an issue and the system would email
our Network Admin. Then he could update status, re-assign it, close it
out, etc, and the end-uses could look-up the status and also would
receive notification when it was completed. Simple and Cheap would be
key. Does anybody use or know of anything like this?

I've used http://www.troubleticketexpress.com/ which does what you described and not a whole lot more and simplicity can be an advantage. The base is free and you pay for add-ons such as SQL version.

Well...to add to the list...we just purchased a Preventative Maintenance System called Bigfoot from Smartware Group. The really cool thing about it is that at the five seat level there was an extra one for IT. I am now in the process of setting up all our PCs and printers PLUS all our software, generically, as machines. Thus Vantage is a machine that can have work requests placed against it (or Word, or Excel, etc...). Another great feature is that the Work Request program is NOT considered a seat and can be installed for everyone. They enter, via drop down lists the category and item and a description. I then get an email noting the request. When I assign it a status they in turn get an email notifying of the change so the requestor is kept in the loop. It will take a fair bit of upfront work to load everything but once done the reports and time tracking will be invaluable. The base system runs about $2K and then about $350 per added "seat" which in our case are used for Maintenance-Building, Maintenance-Equipment, IT, Fleet and Tooling. Next big step is to develop asset tags. So if you need a PM system the incremental cost to cover IT with a work request system is pretty low.

Hi,

We use spiceworks, and for ticketing it works ok for us. Users can log tickets by email or a web interface. It scans the network, any network device it populates its device library. It also scans for software, its ok at this but not as good as commercial stuff.

I would recommend having a look at it at least.

Gary...our steps are as follows:

We check the SHIPPED checkbox on the packing slip
We open AR Invoice Entry and Get Shipments
We post the Invoice (validated in the system monitor)
We run the Inv/WIP and SGM and the Costs are not there. The WIP Report
does show the $'s on the COS line, but all PartTran & InvcDtl
transactions show zero cost.

Then all of a sudden...sometimes days later...the costs appear.

In talking with a couple other customers, they too experience this along
with Qty's not updating. Once customer noted to run conversion programs
6670 & 6720. We are going to give that a try...but we have also asked
Epicor to scrub the trigger for the update as there does appear to be a
glitch.

The conversion programs are for when you are not seeing the Shipped Qty updated on the OrderRel and other related tables.

I have not received a final answer on this yet...but it seams to be an issue with the AR Clearing and COS when the trantype = MFG-CUS. But not all the time...so not sure what causes it yet. We sent them our db last night with a record in the half posted status. But I will let you know as soo as I hear something.

One thing I did not know which I here has been up for debate for many years...which it would be nice to know the real answer...the Inventory/WIP Reconciliation Report is the trigger point. What?
How can you store a trigger in a report?
