File conflicts

Stupid questions ...

Does Progress support true record level locking or do they lock by block?

Why can't the Vantage code trap the error without killing the process?

this weekend. When A/R does the billing, she is locking up because
shipping
or sales may be doing something in a file that billing uses. Has anyone

Same here. Procedure is to call shipping and ask that they get out, do the invoice run, then call shipping with the "all clear". Main problem is that shipping person leaves customer shipment screen up most of the time and it does not "free" up the last shipment (marked ready to invoice usually) while he is waiting to do the next one. In fact I suspect that the record is still locked even if customer shipments is exited. His procedure is to completely exit from Vantage to assure no lock. All this is a real PITB for everyone involved.
