We are importing fixed assets into the Fixed Asset module and some of our assets are in the development phase. What would be the commissioning date to assign to such assets which are not yet “put to use”.

You would normally “build” assets on a job or project, and then transfer to Fixed Asset once complete - this is how I would build WIP costs against such an item.

If you are not using job or project, you can accumulate all the costs into capital work in progress account and transfer to asset module on capitalization.
Can you transfer costs from a Project to an Asset? I was never able to get that to work.
Work-around. Accumulate costs via project, then capitalize via asset addition entry on approval.
