There is an idea out there to allow read only viewing of other-owner functions and I think this idea could be easily extended to allow read only viewing of published functions period.

I’d rather it just go away, but I’ll take what I can get.

Epicor Ideas Update: Due to circumstances beyond our control, there is a new setting in Aha! that forces all ideas to be invisible until they are reviewed. This has changed our internal processes, with ideas being reviewed every day rather than weekly. Due to this, any new ideas may not be immediately visible to others outside your organization. If you have an idea that needs to be made public, please let me know.

just don’t do it for everyone, otherwise users won’t see reports and all other sys monitor stuff

Yes and that is way too many clicks. I have to promote/demote literally hundreds of times during the development process because you can’t test a damn thing when its not promoted. Yes I know I can use postman but I literally do not have time to set that up for every single function I need to write. The rest help page only works if its promoted. Scheduling it is useless because you can’t get the response. And then I can’t run it from a layer unless its promoted either.

for all the Epicor Ideas enthusiests: since yesterday was the formal release date of Kinetic 2025.1, i have marked all the related ideas as delivered/shipped… I also went into all the ideas that will be delivered against in 2025.2, and I have marked them as in development.
You can see a complete list of them here: Kinetic Ideas In Development for Kinetic 2025.2

I nearly fell out my chair when I read this. Kevin had sympathy (empathy?) for widgets!

But yes, agreed to the pile of comments - the promote/demote thing is cumbersome, etc. I could go on but you all covered it enough.

And yes please vote on the existing ideas about testing Functions within Kinetic and at least being able to view the contents without demoting.

I’ve considered it as a way to opt out of the footgun. But maybe there doesn’t need to be a footgun? It makes my brain itch watching Epicor vent quite plausibly four digits a month of actual dollars in a way that reduces product value. All I can do is indicate, this is on fire yo, and hope someone in a position to tap in an easy win sees it. It is the song of my people and forgive me but I am compelled to sing it.

Sing it, and opt out. No sense in suffering.

At one point I wrote an app that would pull functions into a postman workspace. I need to look at where that is. It may be useful?

Where do we suggest documentation, learning improvements?

It’s “Doug” ready, but not public ready. I’ll clean it up and post it.

I totally agree with having options for the users. Totally see in this case what method of metrics is important to one customer may be different for other customers. I really think it would be a worthwhile project to explore though.

Purchase advisor should give visibility across sites, just like part tracker and time phase

The link is not working for me. And every search result for “Purchase Advisor” is delivered or expired.

Is it this one?

Not sure what happened there, does it work now? If not its KIN-I-6179
