Global Alerts Setup

Do most persons who use Global Alerts have their own email exchange server
to process alerts? or do you send it out to a remote email host? In the
alternative, if you have set up global alerts, I would be interested in
hearing how the alerts were set up to go out. I am having a great deal of
problem finding software/service that are compatible to the email alerts
sent out by Vantage 6.1. It appears that Microsoft doesn't like the type of
messages (alert message as .eml) because these are usually spam and
therefore Microsoft filters them out or blocks them in the virtual server.

I am trying to set up global parts in a Multi Company setting. We have
a vpn connection between the 2 sites and I can map the drive on the
far end. Both companies have been set up in ext comp maintenance I
changed the port number at one location so will have different port
numbers for each location and the service file reflects the ports on
both ends. When I try to start the process server for the far end it
times itself out. Does anyone have any ideas?
What are your process server .mfg file settings for the following...
DelayGlobalAlerts=00:00:30
DelayMultiCompany=00:00:30
DelayExternalFinancials=00:00:30
DelayGenericImport=00:00:30
DelayGlobalCreditCheck=00:00:30
DelayMobileConnectServer=00:00:30
DelayMobileConnectSync=00:00:30
DelayFailedDBConnect=5

When you're referring to the port number below are you talking about the DB
port number?
If so, you could create and run a second (separate) process server file to
run specifically for that port number with the necessary port / delay
settings required for the remote site.

You might try increasing the delay on the failed db connect for the remote
site.
Have you tried adjusting the delays at all?

Another quick thought...you also might have to create another remote or
neighboring name server in proexp if you haven't already.

When you're referring to the port number below are you talking about the
DB
port number?
If so, you could create and run a second (separate) process server file
to
run specifically for that port number with the necessary port / delay
settings required for the remote site.

Subject: [Vantage] Multi Company Process server

I am trying to set up global parts in a Multi Company setting. We have a
vpn
connection between the 2 sites and I can map the drive on the far end.
Both
companies have been set up in ext comp maintenance I changed the port
number
at one location so will have different port numbers for each location
and
the service file reflects the ports on both ends. When I try to start
the
process server for the far end it times itself out. Does anyone have any
ideas?

One last though and then I'm out of ideas...If there's a firewall involved
you should make sure the UDP port your using is open for the service to
connect to the remote side.

You might try increasing the delay on the failed db connect for the remote
site.
Have you tried adjusting the delays at all?

We saw that happen when we were testing it out, so now we have our
network admins start each process server with the account that stays
logged into the server.
If one of the process servers hangs, we have them use SMS to get into
the server to get it started again.
We set our delays to 5 minutes for Global Alerts and 10 for
MultiComany.

Just go into proexp, expand your name server folder, right click on your
name server and check the properties.
Once your in the properties section, the help program will give you all the
information you need to set it up.
It's pretty well defined there for you.
Good luck!
Although...I'm starting to lean toward the firewall port idea if you have
one between the sites...

Another quick thought...you also might have to create another remote or
neighboring name server in proexp if you haven't already.
