GREAT! That worked! Thank you to everyone for their help. One last
question...is there a way to automate this particular process on boot
up? I know I can put the Process Server itself into the startup group,
but how do I single out the Global Alert process?
Thanks,
Matthew

You have to go to the your mapped vantage drive on the server and in the
the
mfgsys61 there is a "process server" that you can start. Start that and
then you should see an icon on your toolbar that looks like the symbol
in the corner with the red e. Click on the processes and then global
alerts and then start. You can then minimize this. This us usually
running from the server. You can set it up so that it starts
automatically when the server is rebooted. This should get it started.

Where would I check to see if this is running? Sorry, but I'm new to
the Vantage world...

Did you start the process server for global alerts in addition to
making
the global alert active?

I was able to telnet with no problem from the server. Here are my
settings under the "E-mail Configuration Tab":
- E-mail Link Port: 7005 (have tried 5555 and others as well...ran
'netstat' command to figure out which ports were available)
- Global Alert From E-mail Address:
administrator@...
- Global Alert From Label: Vantage 6.1 Administrator
- SMTP Server: IP address of Exchange server (have also tried the
FQDN
here as well)
- SMTP Port: 25
One more piece of info...I've been testing with the "Credit Hold"
Global
Alert because it's one of the easier ones to trigger. Perhaps there
is
another that would be better for testing purposes?
Thanks for the suggestions,
Matthew

Matt,
Go to your Vantage server, click Start | Run and open a command line
box
(run
cmd)
When the command line opens, type:
telnet <ip.address.of.your.exchange.server> 25
